As vice president of Human Resources, Marc Ahlquist is a strategic leader of people and a consummate problem solver. He oversees the talent-focused strategies and programs that impact HAP’s 1,100 team members, including performance management, talent acquisition, leadership development and labor relations. He also oversees HAPs critical and impactful diversity and inclusion efforts.

Marc has nearly 30 years of experience in human resources across the health care, finance and staffing solutions industries. Before joining HAP in 2021, Marc served as director of human resources at Credit Acceptance Corporation, a 2,000-employee auto loan finance company based in Southfield, Mich. Prior to that, he held HR leadership positions at Beaumont Health, Oakwood Healthcare, Healthsource Saginaw and Kelly Services, a worldwide leader in staffing solutions. His experience includes leading teams in both a corporate environment and at field-based operating units throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Marc and his wife stay active outside of work with two teenaged sons and their various activities. They spend as much time as they can at their cottage on Beaver Island, in northern Michigan, a respite that provides a perfect blend of relaxation and rugged adventure.

Marc is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and is designated as a Senior Certified Professional by the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM-SCP).

He holds an MBA from Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan - Dearborn.
