Local Woman Named NAHU Recruiter of the Year

Michelle HowardDETROIT, Mich – Metro Detroit Association of Health Underwriters (MDAHU) is pleased to announce that local chapter member, Michelle Howard of Auburn Hills, has been named NAHU Recruiter of the  Year at the organization’s Annual Convention in Kansas City, MO.  She has achieved this honor five times, in the last six years.

Howard is the Director of Agent Relations for Health Alliance Plan (HAP) of Southfield.  In her role at HAP, she oversees activities which support the independent insurance agent community throughout Southeastern Michigan.

She is Immediate Past President of the Michigan Association of Health Underwriters and Past President of the Metro Detroit chapter.  Currently, she serves as NAHU’s National Membership Council Chairperson, directing membership recruitment events and activities of all NAHU’s chapters across the nation.  She has also served on numerous committees at local, state and national levels during her 15 years as an NAHU member.  

“Membership recruitment is key to our viability as an organization and allows us to continue to have a strong impact legislatively,” stated Dustin VanDuine, MDAHU Chapter President. “MDAHU remains the largest local chapter in the nation, due largely to Michelle’s leadership efforts.”
