Medicare Star Ratings
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) uses a five-star rating system to measure the quality and performance of Medicare Advantage plans. Plans receive an overall rating from 1 to 5 stars each year, with 5 stars being the highest possible rating.
Ratings are based on information from members, healthcare providers and plan performance measures. They help Medicare beneficiaries compare plans and make informed healthcare decisions.
Some of the areas CMS reviews include:
- Quality of care
- Member experience and satisfaction
- Customer service
- Prescription drug plan performance
