DETROIT – Health Alliance Plan (HAP), a Michigan-based nonprofit health plan, has been awarded a contract to provide services under the Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) plan. Starting January 1, 2025, HAP will offer non-Medicare and Medicare HMO products to Michigan postal employees. This shift in health care coverage is part of the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program, ensuring comprehensive coverage tailored to their needs.
“We’re proud to be the exclusive regional health insurance provider for Michigan postal employees, retirees, and their families,” said Dr. Michael Genord, president and CEO of HAP. “As part of these communities ourselves, we’re uniquely positioned to serve these members and continue our award-winning member experience providing premium care through our robust statewide network.”
As the sole regional HMO for Michigan’s postal workforce, HAP offers competitive pricing and a network of over 50,000 healthcare providers statewide. With a deep understanding of Michigan’s healthcare landscape, this partnership with the PSHB reinforces HAP’s role as a trusted healthcare provider.
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) manages health insurance coverage for federal employees, annuitants, and eligible family members, including those in the Postal Service.
