Low-impact water aerobics are free and open to the public
DETROIT – Health Alliance Plan has announced the winter 2018 schedule for its water aerobics program, Splash Bash. Designed and geared toward adults, especially those with limited mobility, Splash Bash is a low-impact class offered at recreation centers in Detroit, Flint, Marine City, Troy and Warren, Mich. Classes are free and open to the public.
Splash Bash fitness classes are available at the following locations:
Detroit:
- Coleman Young Recreation Center – Wednesday and Friday, 1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.
- William Recreation Center – Monday and Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Flint:
- University of Michigan-Flint Recreation Center – Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. – noon. Seniors only.
Marine City:
- Marine City High School – Tuesday and Thursday, 8:15 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.
Troy:
- Indoor Municipal Pool – Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Warren:
- Warren Community Center – Friday, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Seniors only.
Splash Bash is ideal for most people, even those with arthritis or other chronic conditions, because the buoyancy of the water reduces stress on joints, bones and muscles.
