DETROIT – Health Alliance Plan has named Michael Genord, M.D., senior vice president and chief medical officer.
In this role, Dr. Genord will lead the development and implementation of HAP's clinical and operational programs in partnership with the region's health care providers. He will oversee HAP's health care and quality activities, including medical management, disease management, health care utilization management, health care quality, provider credentialing and pharmacy care management.
In addition, Dr. Genord will retain his role as president and CEO of HAP Midwest Health Plan, Inc., a licensed HMO and a wholly owned subsidiary of HAP.
Prior to joining HAP, Dr. Genord was president and CEO of HealthPlus when that company merged with HAP in 2016. Before joining HealthPlus as its chief medical officer, he managed a private practice for 17 years and served in leadership roles at William Beaumont Hospital and United Physicians Group. Dr. Genord is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Genord earned his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, a master's degree in business administration from MSU's Eli Broad Graduate School of Management and a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan.
He is a resident of Rochester, Mich.
