Flint, Mich. - HealthPlus was officially honored last night with the Community Partnership Award from the Genesee Health Plan. The award goes to individuals and organizations that have partnered with the GHP to improve the health and wellness of its members through education and access to affordable high quality care. Michael Genord, M.D., interim CEO and chief medical officer, HAP Flint, accepted the award on behalf of HealthPlus, which merged with Health Alliance Plan in February 2016.
"Genesee Health Plan has been thoughtful and innovative from the beginning. It is partially funded through county millages, makes use of existing area hospitals and networks, has expanded services and operates within the structures of community care," said Dr. Genord, M.D. "HealthPlus is proud to support the plan's ambitious goals and in so doing has served tens of thousands of Genesee Health Plan members with dignity and respect. As HAP, we will continue the tradition."
HealthPlus has worked with the GHP since its inception in 2001, serving as the plan's benefits administrator and overseeing enrollment, claims, pharmacy benefits and formularies, statistical reporting to measure quality and identify service gaps, disease management strategies, care coordination and more.
Additionally, HealthPlus has provided health management expertise, leveraged economies of scale for cost control, shared resources such as customer service and, as a community partner, provided a personal touch. Today, as HAP, the company is providing access to quality care to nearly 4,500 GHP members who might otherwise be without health insurance.

HealthPlus has always been sympathetic to the uninsured in our community and GHP is so thankful that our organizations have worked together to reduce the number of those uninsured."
