Stewart recognized for service to association, commitment to healthcare finance
DETROIT - Peter A. Stewart, CPA, FHFMA, director of Auditing Services and MAR Compliance for Health Alliance Plan (HAP), has been awarded the Thomas F. McNulty Achievement Award by the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Eastern Michigan Chapter. He was recognized for his outstanding leadership, contributions and volunteerism to the health care finance industry and to the HFMA Eastern Michigan Chapter. HFMA is a national membership organization for healthcare finance leaders.

Stewart has been a member of the Eastern Michigan Chapter of HFMA for nearly 34 years and has received numerous awards during that time for his service and dedication. He also served as a member of the chapter's board of directors from 2006-2008.
A 15-year veteran of HAP, Stewart has served in his current director role for five years and is responsible for planning and performing internal control testing and monitoring for HAP, directing the overall coordination of the Model Audit Rule (MAR) Compliance effort, and developing and executing the internal audit plan for HAP.
Stewart holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York.
