HAP is Here: With an open letter to our community

There’s been a change in the West Michigan health plan market this year: more competition. And that’s a good thing. Competition helps drive quality up and costs down, which always benefits consumers.

Health Alliance Plan or HAP is excited to be here. Whether it’s providing the best managed care for our members with chronic diseases or creating personalized benefits packages so employers can offer affordable health care to their employees, HAP is committed to providing an exceptional customer experience that yields long-term results. It’s what we do – all day, every day.

WHY DO MORE THAN 400,000 MICHIGANDERS TRUST US WITH THEIR HEALTH?

Our Michigan roots run deep.

HAP is a subsidiary of Henry Ford Health, one of the nation’s leading health care systems that has cared for the people of Michigan for more than a century. HAP was founded more than 60 years ago and has served the people of Michigan ever since.

We‘re committed to quality.

HAP is the only Michigan-based insurer to earn 4.5 stars (out of 5) from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for its Medicare Advantage HMO the past three years in a row, and the only Michigan-based insurer to achieve 4 stars or higher for both Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO each of the past four years. With HAP, you know you’re getting a quality plan and quality interactions – every time.

We make it easy for you to get the care you need.

HAP partners with more than 50,000 health care providers across Michigan that include the leading doctors and hospitals in West Michigan.

We reinvest every dollar we make into Michigan.

As a regional insurer, we reinvest our resources into more programs and services to benefit the people of Michigan with a focus on our most vulnerable populations – children and older adults.

Our leaders wear lab coats.

No other health plan in Michigan has a physician CEO with a medical degree from Michigan State University who managed a private practice for 17 years. HAP members have peace of mind knowing that a solid team of experienced doctors, nurses and care managers are on hand to guide their health journey, every step of the way.

BUILDING THE HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITIES TOGETHER

Earlier this year, we announced some investments in West Michigan – like expanding our provider network to include more doctors and hospitals close to home and giving our time and resources to nonprofit organizations that serve the local community. You welcomed us with open arms, for that we are grateful.

On behalf of the 33,000 HAP and Henry Ford Health team members based in Michigan, thank you for the privilege of serving this community. We look forward to a long partnership building the health of our communities together with you.
