Save money with the Henry Ford Choice network
Henry Ford Choice members have access to world-class health care close to home from Henry Ford. As part of the Henry Ford Choice network, you can take advantage of this high-quality care and save money on monthly premiums in the process.
What is the Henry Ford Choice network?
The Henry Ford Choice network includes doctors and facilities that are part of the Henry Ford system. The Henry Ford Choice network is open to residents and small businesses in Macomb, Wayne and Oakland county.
Working with doctors from a Choice network allows us to lower costs. In comparison to our full HMO network, that could be a savings of up to 20 percent.1 Because your doctors work closely with others in the same network, we can cut down on waste. All of your medical records are in one place, too.
How does my health care work in the network?
Your primary care doctor will be part of the Henry Ford system and will coordinate care with other doctors within the Henry Ford system as needed.
If you need specialty care, you’ll be referred to a specialist within the Henry Ford system. In the rare event you need to see a specialist outside the Henry Ford system, your doctor will work with us to get a referral to either the University of Michigan’s University Hospital or C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.
You can use our Find a Doctor tool to find your primary care doctor within the Henry Ford Choice network.
What facilities are included in the network?
Some of the hospitals in the Henry Ford Choice network include:
- Henry Ford Hospital
- Henry Ford Kingswood Hospital (behavioral health)
- Henry Ford Macomb Hospital – Clinton Township
- Henry Ford Macomb Hospital – Mount Clemens (behavioral health)
- Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital
- Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital

Before you schedule an appointment, make sure the doctor accepts your coverage. Some facilities include doctors who aren’t part of the Henry Ford Choice network.
What if I need emergency or urgent care?
All HAP health plans, including Henry Ford Choice plans, cover any emergency care at a hospital. Once you are stabilized, you will be transferred to a Henry Ford hospital if necessary. If you have a medical situation that isn’t life-threatening, you can get help fast at a Henry Ford Choice network walk-in clinic or urgent care center. These clinics treat conditions such as:
- Back pain
- Flu symptoms
- Minor fractures
