Do you qualify for a health insurance subsidy?
In 2014, 88% of Michigan residents qualified for a government subsidy on their health insurance, which includes HAP plans.
Through the Affordable Care Act, you may qualify for financial assistance to help pay for private health insurance if you do not receive insurance benefits through your employer, Medicare or Medicaid. These subsidies work to lower costs in several ways.
You might be eligible for subsidized health insurance if:
- You’re self-employed
- You don’t receive health insurance through your employer
- Your employer provides health insurance, but your plan only covers you – not other members of your family – and your premium is more than 9.5% of your family’s income
To qualify for a subsidy, you must select your health insurance plan during the Open Enrollment Period between Nov. 1, 2016 and Jan. 31, 2017.
Healthcare has changed. HAP's commitment to you has not.
