More information about each of the tests
Need a bit more information on a test? We’ve got it below.
Mammogram: a low energy X-ray used to screen for growths or changes in the breasts.
Osteoporosis screening: a test, called a bone mineral density test, uses X-rays to measure minerals in your bones, mainly calcium. It is used to test for signs of osteoporosis, which can lead to fragile bones and an increased risk of a broken bone.
Colonoscopy: a procedure that lets your doctor look at your large intestine, all the way through the colon and into the small intestine. It’s used to look for early signs of cancer in the colon and rectum.
Sigmoidoscopy: a procedure that lets your doctor look at the inside of your large intestine all the way through the last part of the colon, called the sigmoid colon. It’s also used to look for early signs of colorectal cancer in the colon and rectum.
CT colonography: a procedure that uses computers and X-rays to produce 3D images of your colon to see growths. It’s also used to look for signs of colorectal cancer. This test can find growths, but you’d have to go back in to get them removed.
Fecal occult blood test (in-home kit): checks for hidden blood in the stool. It’s used to check for early signs of colorectal cancer.
Retinal eye exam for members with diabetes: an eye exam to check for diabetic retinopathy, a condition that can impact your vision.
Urine nephropathy for members with diabetes: checks for protein in the urine. It’s used to screen for diabetic nephropathy, which is a kidney disease that can result in kidney failure.
HbA1c test for members with diabetes: a blood test that determines the average level of your blood sugar over the past two to three months.
