Getting to Know Your PCP
Your PCP is the HAP-affiliated physician you select to coordinate your medical care. You must select a PCP. You must see your PCP for all routine, non-emergency care.
The following provider types are Personal Care Physicians (PCP):
- Family Practice
- Geriatric Medicine
- Internal Medicine
The Role of Your PCP
Your PCP is the only physician who has your complete medical profile and can coordinate your specialty care. This helps to ensure that all your medical care will be considered in your treatment plan.
Finding Your PCP
You can select a PCP based on your needs. You may want to select a PCP located near your work, while a physician close to school or home is better for your children.
HAP has convenient options available for you to search for and select a PCP.
You can find PCP and other provider profiles by using the Provider Search and PCP Select tool. This tool is available to all members online, 24 hours a day/seven days a week.
The PCP Select line is available toll-free at (888) PIC-A-PCP or (888) 742-2727.
