If a member requests a specialist with whom I'm not familiar, what should I do?

HAP encourages you to continue to discuss your referral preference and recommendations with your patients. However, if after your discussion the patient still chooses to utilize another specialist, they may do so. We expect all specialists to provide the PCP with a written consultation report for patients they evaluate and treat.
