HAP to Withdraw Some Personal Alliance Individual PPO Plans for 2017

DETROIT - Aug. 22, 2016 - Health Alliance Plan (HAP) announced today that it is withdrawing several Personal Alliance® individual PPO plans from its suite of products for 2017.

"We believe that these plans do not represent the best value for the consumer," said Mary Ann Tournoux, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Health Alliance Plan. "At this time of cost-consciousness, we believe our remaining plans are the most cost-effective and offer our members and consumers greater value for their hard-earned insurance dollar."

Of HAP's 675,000 members, approximately 10,000 - or less than 1.5 percent of HAP's membership - will be impacted by these changes. They will be notified prior to this year's Open Enrollment Period, which begins on Nov. 1, and will be assisted in selecting a new plan to take effect January 1, 2017. All current plans, care and coverage will continue for the remainder of 2016.

HAP continues to offer a full suite of plans for 2017, including more than 45 Personal Alliance® plans from which individuals and families can choose.
