National Kidney Foundation of Michigan and Health Alliance Plan Offer Free Exercise Classes in Mount Clemens
ANN ARBOR, MICH. - August 27, 2013 - The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) and Health Alliance Plan (HAP) are hosting a free exercise program at the Jermaine Jackson Community Center, located at 58 Orchard St. in Mount Clemens.
The one-hour Enhance Fitness class will meet every week on Tuesdays at 11:30am and at 6:00pm. Although the class is aimed at helping older individuals improve their overall fitness and well-being, all adults are welcome. Those with physical disabilities or who travel by wheelchair are also encouraged to attend. Drop-in participants are welcome.
Enhance Fitness focuses on cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, flexibility and balance training by demonstrating fun and simple ways to exercise. A certified fitness instructor leads weekly classes to provide social stimulation as well as physical benefits to participants. Specific techniques help improve overall functional fitness and quality of life. Many people who have participated in Enhance Fitness reported an increase in strength, greater activity level, and improved mood during and after taking the course.
"HAP is pleased to sponsor the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan's Enhance Fitness program, a fantastic group exercise program designed to help adults at all fitness levels gain endurance, strength, balance and flexibility," said Chrystal Roberts, Director of Community Relations at HAP. "We encourage area residents to take advantage of these free fitness classes, which promote an active, energized and independent lifestyle, now offered at the Jermaine Jackson Community Center."
