HAP & HYPE Partner to Promote Extreme Fitness

Dearborn Heights - August 27, 2013 - Community members and HYPE Recreation Center members have the opportunity to participate in a dynamic fitness program called HYPE FitXtreme thanks to a partnership with Health Alliance Plan (HAP).

HYPE FitXtreme will be a year round group fitness class offered to members and non-members of the HYPE Recreation Center in Dearborn Heights, MI. The class will be a combination of Cross-Fit, P90X and Insanity with a traditional boot camp setting. The regiment will implement circuit training, pilates, yoga, plyometrics and athletic development exercises.

"We are extremely appreciative of HAP and their investment in physical fitness in the Metro Detroit community. The HYPE FitXtreme program will not only encourage physical activity but a change in lifestyle." said Justin Cessante, HYPE Recreation Center Director of Community Relations.

"HAP's partnership with the HYPE Recreation Center for the launch of HYPE FitXtreme classes will inspire people to reach their personal health and fitness goals and add activity to their lives. This partnership is another example of HAP's commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of the lives we touch and the communities in which we live, "said Chrystal Roberts, HAP's Director of Community Relations.

The HYPE FitXtreme Program began August 26th and will run take place Monday - Friday at both 6:30am and 6:00pm and Saturday's at 9:00am. HYPE FitXtreme will be offered at the HYPE Recreation Center. The program is free to center members and is $8per session for non-members. All participants must be 18 years of age. Each participant will undergo a fitness assessment during the first session.

HYPE Athletics Community, a non-profit organization, was established in 2001 with a mission to strengthen the infrastructure of Metro Detroit families through athletics, physical fitness and social services. HYPE has served over 100,000 youth and families throughout Wayne County. The non-profit organization owns and operates the HYPE Recreation Center (HRC) 23302 W. Warren Ave., Dearborn Heights, MI 48127.

The HRC is a state-of-the-art facility that includes five basketball/volleyball courts, a co-ed weight training area, a women's only weight/cardio training area, 1/7 mile indoor track, computer lab, library, two classrooms, playroom and a cafe`. Membership benefits include a free fitness assessment, over 70 free group fitness classes, free homework assistance tutoring and mentoring, 2 hours free daily childcare and open gym, substance abuse programs, career development and ACT prep Classes.
