HAP Senior Plus (HMO-POS) offers greater flexibility

DETROIT – Nov. 20, 2012 – Health Alliance Plan (HAP) supports the diverse and busy lifestyles of Michigan Medicare beneficiaries. For 2013, HAP Senior Plus (HMO-POS) has enhanced its Expanded Network Plan that combines benefits, services and programs. Wherever they go, HAP will go with them.

"HAP Senior Plus (HMO-POS) is a very robust plan that also offers a lot of flexibility," said Karen Wintringham, HAP vice president, Medicare Programs. "During the Medicare annual Open Enrollment Period, we encourage Medicare beneficiaries to review the improvements to the HMO-POS plans and determine the best one to meet their individual needs."

When they're at home, HAP Senior Plus Expanded Network members will save money by having the flexibility to use any of the 9,500 doctors and specialists and contracted hospitals within the local nine-county southeast Michigan service area for routine and specialty services at the in-network copay amount.

The POS out-of-network benefit has been improved from an out-of-area to an out-of-network benefit, and also saw an increase in coverage levels for 2013. Members can use their Point-Of-Service (POS) benefit across the U.S. for routine and follow-up care. If members choose a Medicare-participating doctor outside the plan network, the benefit amount will vary, depending on the plan option they chose (costs may be higher than in-network).

New HAP members also will have a local Personal Service Coordinator assigned to them for the first two years to answer their questions and help navigate the program easily. Long-time HAP members can rely on HAP's local, knowledgeable team of customer servicerepresentatives for assistance or information.

All HAP Senior Plus members enjoy HAP's Flexible Health Options benefit, access to worldwide emergency and urgent care coverage, and services like global emergency travel assistance from Assist America.

Now is the time for Medicare beneficiaries who do not receive coverage through an employer to review their current medical and prescription drug coverage for 2013. Those who have health benefits from an employer group plan should ask the company or union for advice before signing up for any plan.

HAP Senior Plus (HMO-POS) is a health plan with a Medicare contract. The benefit information provided is a brief summary, not a complete description of benefits. For more information contact HAP. Limitations, copayments, and restrictions may apply. Benefits may change on January 1 of each year.
