Health Alliance Plan Expands Medicare Plan Options
Alliance Medicare Supplement Plan N and HAP Senior Plus (HMO-POS)
DETROIT -- November 15, 2010 -- Health Alliance Plan (HAP) is expanding its Medicare options to include a new Medicare Supplement Plan N and the HAP Senior Plus (HMO-POS) - Expanded Network.
"Each person has different requirements when it comes to achieving and maintaining good health," said Karen Wintringham, HAP vice president, Medicare Programs. "We are continually enhancing our Medicare Plan options to provide an array of Medicare products to meet consumers' needs. Both plans will appeal to more frequent travelers and snowbirds."
Alliance Medicare Supplement Plans help fill the gaps in Original Medicare, giving beneficiaries protection against unexpected health care costs. Medicare Supplement Plan N reduces monthly premiums by introducing copays for doctor visits and emergencies, and a Part B deductible; all other covered benefits have $0 copays. Members who travel can seek care from any Medicare participating doctor or hospital in the United States. Plan N also covers the cost of emergency care when members travel overseas, with some limitations.
The new HAP Senior Plus (HMO-POS) - Expanded Network covers all Medicare-covered benefits, extensive preventive care services, a choice of Medicare Part D prescription drug benefits, worldwide emergency and urgent care coverage and optional dental coverage. HAP will continue the exclusive Flexible Health Options benefit that pays members to get and stay fit.
The HAP Senior Plus (HMO-POS) - Expanded Network also offers additional benefits for travelers. Some routine services obtained from any Medicare-participating doctor or hospital will be covered when members travel outside the HAP service area. As in all HAP Medicare plans, members have worldwide coverage for emergencies and urgent care.
HAP Senior Plus (HMO-POS) - Expanded Network serves people with Medicare who live in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Monroe, St. Clair, and Washtenaw counties.
Important information for beneficiaries
The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs from November 15 through December 31, 2010. Coverage for individuals who enroll during this period begins January 1, 2011. Now is the time for Medicare beneficiaries who do not receive coverage through an employer to review their current medical and prescription drug coverage for 2011. Those who have health benefits from an employer group plan should ask the company or union for advice before signing up for any plan.
