HAP Welcomes David M. Scott as Chief Operating Officer and Mary Ann Tournoux as Chief Marketing Officer
DETROIT – June 8, 2010 – Health Alliance Plan (HAP) today announced two executive appointments to its senior leadership team. David M. Scott has been named the Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer. Mary Ann Tournoux has been named Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer. They will both assume their roles in July.
"David Scott and Mary Ann Tournoux are both highly seasoned executives with superb track records of achievement across a broad spectrum of responsibilities within their respective areas of expertise," said William Alvin, President and CEO. "Both leaders have worked within integrated health systems and bring to Michigan experience from challenging markets in other parts of the country."
Chief Operating Officer David Scott will lead major cross-functional areas throughout the company to include business processes, projects and implementation of operational aspects of the 2010 – 2012 strategic plan. His responsibilities include Provider Network Development and Service, Information Technology, Client Services, Claims and Human Resources.
HAP's new Chief Operating Officer brings over 15 years of health plan leadership experience to Michigan. David Scott joins HAP from Highmark, Inc., a Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Licensee in Pennsylvania with over 3.5 million members, where he has served as Vice President, Operations. Prior to joining Highmark in 2005, Scott worked for national health insurance companies to include CIGNA and Aetna, as well as the health plan associated with Group Health Cooperative-a major integrated health system in the Pacific Northwest. Earlier in his career, David served in the U.S. Army as an armor officer completing service as a Major. During the course of his service, David successfully completed airborne and ranger training.
Scott holds a master's degree in Business Administration from Averett University in Virginia and a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Morgan State University in Maryland.
Chief Marketing Officer Mary Ann Tournoux will lead market strategy to include expansion of HAP's products and services as well as all other marketplace initiatives contained in the 2010-2012 strategic plan. She will have sales and product development responsibility for commercial, individual, Medicare and public sector business, as well as responsibility for market research, advertising, communications and public relations.
HAP's new Chief Marketing Officer brings over 20 years of marketing management and health plan leadership experience to Michigan. Tournoux joins HAP from 300,000-member Health Alliance Medical Plan in Urbana, Illinois where she has served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Health Alliance Medical Plan is part of a major integrated health system in central Illinois associated with Carle Foundation Hospital and the highly regarded Carle Clinic, a large multi-specialty physician group. Prior to joining Health Alliance Medical Plan in 2004, Tournoux served as Vice President, Sales and Marketing for HomeTown Health Network in Ohio and has worked in sales management in western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia. Earlier in her career, Tournoux held sales positions in the medical supply industry as well as the steel industry.
Tournoux holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University.
