HAP Ranked Highest in Member Satisfaction among Michigan Commercial Health Plans in J.D. Power and Associates Study

DETROIT – April 1, 2010 – Health Alliance Plan members once again rated HAP "Highest in Member Satisfaction among Commercial Health Plans in Michigan," in the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Member Health Insurance Plan Study.

"It's a tremendous honor to receive the J.D. Power and Associates award for the third consecutive year," said William Alvin, president and CEO. "According to our members, HAP consistently delivers a superior overall customer experience. We believe our members value access to the area's leading physicians and hospitals, comprehensive coverage and benefits, and our responsive customer service."

The study measures seven key drivers of satisfaction within the members' overall health plan experience: Coverage and Benefits; Provider Choice; Information and Communication; Claims Processing; Statements; Customer Service; and Approval Processes.

HAP also earned five Power Circle Ratings, which equates to the "Among the Best" category in six areas: Overall Experience, Coverage and Benefits, Provider Choice, Information and Communication, Claims Processing, and Customer Service. HAP earned four Power Circle Ratings in two areas: Approval Process and Statements.

About the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Member Health Insurance Plan Study
Now in its fourth year, the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Member Health Insurance Plan Study measures member satisfaction among 131 health plans in 17 regions throughout the United States by examining seven key factors: coverage and benefits; provider choice; information and communication; claims processing; statements; customer service; and approval processes. The study reports on the results of nearly 34,000 health plan member surveys, conducted online between November and January 2009.
