HAP Says It's Never Too Late to Get Fit, Announces New Senior Fitness Benefit
New Medicare Offerings for 2008: Fitness, Dental and Improved Pharmacy Benefits, Statewide Stand-Alone Prescription Drug Plans and Medicare Supplement Plans
DETROIT – November 5, 2007 – Michigan-based Health Alliance Plan (HAP) introduces an exciting new fitness benefit with its 2008 Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plans. Members of HAP Senior Plus and Alliance Medicare PPO will receive a benefit of up to monthly, or 0 annually, toward membership at a gym, fitness facility, health club or qualified weight management program.
Medicare beneficiaries can choose the activities they enjoy─ fitness classes, swimming, aerobics, yoga, Tai Chi, weight training, and more. Frequent travelers can choose a club that has facilities where they travel. Members may elect to use the benefit toward weight management programs, such as Weight Watchers®.
"It's just one way to encourage good health," said Karen Wintringham, Vice President, Medicare Programs. "It's never too late for our members to make simple lifestyle changes that can improve their health, reduce their out-of-pocket health care costs, and help them be able to enjoy the things they want to do, like keeping up with their grandchildren."
Enriched Pharmacy Benefits – HAP also announced lower copays for generic drugs, ranging from to . And with any HAP Medicare Advantage plan, beneficiaries can choose either basic Medicare Part D drug coverage or Enhanced Part D coverage that covers generic drugs through the coverage gap, or "donut hole." Seniors also may decide to waive the Part D coverage.
Stable Premiums with Added Benefits – The 2008 HAP Senior Plus Medicare HMO and Alliance Medicare PPO premiums are generally the same or lower than in 2007, with additional benefits. All HAP Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plans offer benefits covered by Original Medicare plus routine care, preventive services, vision benefits and hearing aid benefits.
Optional Dental Coverage – Medicare beneficiaries who enroll in the HAP Senior Plus HMO and Alliance Medicare PPO plans can add dental coverage, including x-rays, oral surgery, fillings, crowns and routine cleanings. An additional monthly premium is charged for these dental plans offered in concert with Delta Dental, one of the largest dental networks in the nation. The plan is similar to a PPO; enrollees can use any dentist, but receive additional savings by using the extensive Delta Dental network.
Personal Service Coordinator - All new members of these programs receive personal attention from a Personal Service Coordinator who they can call directly when they have questions. Coordinators can explain plan details and benefits and assist members with finding resources during their first two years of membership.
New Statewide Medicare Supplement Plans and Prescription Drug Plans in 2008
Alliance Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap plans) – These plans protect against the gaps that exist in Original Medicare and provide savings by covering some of the out-of-pocket costs such as coinsurance, copays and deductibles.
Statewide Alliance Medicare Rx Prescription Drug Plans (stand-alone PDP) – The company will offer Medicare-eligible beneficiaries throughout Michigan a stand-alone Prescription Drug Plan (PDP), with three different levels of benefits and monthly premiums as low as .80 per month. Alliance Medicare Rx plans provide Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage with benefits that offer more coverage than the standard Medicare Part D benefit.
"Our Medicare Solutions now offer a full range of Medicare products to meet the diverse needs of Medicare beneficiaries," says Karen Wintringham, Vice President, Medicare Programs. "With the new Alliance Medicare Supplement Plans and stand-alone Prescription Drug Plans approved by the Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services, we can now provide coverage for beneficiaries throughout Michigan
