Health Alliance Plan Website Named One of Nation's Top 20 Health Plan Websites
DETROIT – October 1, 2007 – Health Alliance Plan's Website, www.hap.org, was honored as one of the Nation's Top 20 Health Plan Websites by TheRatingsGuy.com last week at the HealthContent'07 Conference in Philadelphia. The top sites were selected based on consumer ratings of overall satisfaction with their health plan's website.
"This special recognition is a testimonial to the great work of our internal staff to meet and exceed the needs of our external customers – members, providers, employer groups and agents – through the use of high quality Web tools," said Dennis Sirosky, senior vice president of product and information technology at HAP.
HAP's Online Member Services portal enables members to easily view claims information and pharmacy and referral history, select providers, get health reminders and access innovative healthy living and health care decision-making tools like iStrive for Better Health. HAP also recently expanded its online physician network quality rating system.
The top 20 sites were selected from an analysis of Healthcare Market Guide® data, a syndicated research database just released from the National Research Corporation that includes consumer survey responses from 200,000 households representing the top 190 major U.S. metropolitan markets. In all, 230 health plans were named by consumers and considered, including HMOs, PPOs, POS, FFS, and other non-specified plan types.
The Healthcare Market Guide survey covers website satisfaction, including ability to check claim status on-line, clinical quality and patient satisfaction ratings for physicians and hospitals, on-line physician directory, cost of services provided by physicians and hospitals, treatment options for different conditions, and more. The twenty recognized health plans had the highest overall website satisfaction mean scores.
"Letting consumers tell us who and what they preferred most is the ultimate litmus test for improving consumer-driven functionality in any service industry," said John Morrow, founder of TheRatingsGuy.com. "We hope our recognition of the consumer nominated Top 20 Health Plan Websites will set new standards for the consumer-driven health care industry to follow."
