Health Alliance Plan Honored for Enhancing Quality of Life in Clinton Township
DETROIT – September 20, 2007 – The Clinton Township Board of Trustees presented Health Alliance Plan (HAP) with a Community Service Award this week for enhancing the quality of life in Clinton Township through its sponsorship of free Senior Splash Bash and Moms in Motion water aerobics classes at Clintondale Middle School this summer.
Accepting the award for HAP were Chrystal Roberts, director of Community Relations, and Jamie Spriet, vice president of Business Development.
"Health Alliance Plan is thrilled to receive this special honor," said Roberts. "We recognize that, for many individuals, being active is a challenge, and we were pleased to provide an opportunity for more residents in this community to be physically active in a safe and convenient environment at no cost."
Robert Cannon, Clinton Township Supervisor presented the award on behalf the Board. Linda Walter, director of Clinton Township Parks and Recreation, nominated HAP.
"This partnership exceeded our expectations, and HAP was a natural choice for this award," said Walter. "HAP's sponsorship was much more than a financial gift to our community. HAP employees visited our pool, talked to participants and gave the program a small-town feel, which our staff and residents really appreciated."
This summer marked the third season for the Senior Splash Bash and Moms in Motion program, which originated in the city of Detroit. Due to its increasing popularity, HAP expanded the program to ten communities throughout southeast Michigan.
HAP will continue to sponsor classes throughout the colder months at select locations with indoor pools, including Clinton Township. Additional information and class schedules will soon be available at www.hap.org or by calling (313) 664-8420.
Headquartered in Detroit, Health Alliance Plan is a nonprofit health plan serving more than 573,000 members and 2,000 employer groups.
