Naim Munir, M.D.
Naim Munir, M.D. is Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for HAP.
Dr. Munir leads HAP's clinical and operational programs in partnership with the region's health care providers. He oversees Network Development and Provider Relations, Provider Contracting, Health Care Management, Health Management Services, Credentialing, Pharmacy Care Management, Quality Management and Health Performance Management.
His career spans commercial, Medicare and Medicaid products. He joins HAP from the Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa, where he served as Chief Medical Officer at the Health Division. Prior experience includes serving as Executive Medical Director for quality and care management at Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey; Chief Operating Officer at Amerigroup Corporation of New Jersey; and Vice President for Health Services for PacifiCare's Southwest region.
Dr. Munir's passion for measuring and improving the health of populations is evidenced by his ten years of service as a physician reviewer for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and his two-term appointment to NCQA's national Review Oversight Committee.
Munir received his Medical Degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed his family practice residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.
