As Senior Vice President, Government Programs, Ron Berry has executive leadership over the organization's Medicare and Medicaid programs (Government Programs), including profit and loss oversight, compliance, product expansion and membership growth, and achieving competitive Star Ratings. Ron has primary responsibility for implementation of the organization's strategic plan affecting Government Programs. Ron oversees HAP's Medicare Sales and Operations area and works closely with HAP departments that support the Medicare product line. Ron also works in partnership with the Midwest Health Plan leadership team in aligning the strategy and operations of Midwest and HAP, assisting Midwest as it expands its capabilities to serve the Medicaid/Medicare dual eligible population and other operational opportunities.
Ron previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at HAP. He has extensive experience with establishing operational guidelines, communicating with regulatory agencies and developing business strategies. Prior to joining HAP in 1988, Ron was a principal at Deloitte & Touche, L.L.P. with over 10 years of experience in providing auditing and consulting services to a wide spectrum of insurance and health care entities.
Ron is a certified public accountant. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Michigan – Flint. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Michigan Association of CPAs. Ron has served on a number of local and national boards and committees, including: the Detroit Urban League, where he also served as Treasurer, and the Mariner's Inn, the YMCA (local affiliate level), the American Heart Association (local affiliate level) and The Heat and Warmth Fund.
