HAP Honors

  • The HAP Commercial HMO has earned the National Committee for Quality Assurance's new Excellent Accreditation status by virtue of HAP's commitment to clinical excellence, customer service and continuous improvement. Excellent Accreditation puts HAP among the elite 40 health plans in the country to attain such an honor.

  • The first HMO in Southeast Michigan to achieve full, three-year accreditation (December, 1993) - the highest rating - from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). In September 1995, HAP again received full, three-year accreditation. Consumer Reports and Newsweek recommend choosing a plan that's fully accredited by the NCQA.

  • National Research Company (NRC) named HAP a 1997 Quality Leader based on high scores on consumer quality measures. NRC, recognized as an innovative leader in the area of health care performance measurement, conducts the country's most comprehensive, nationwide consumer health assessments of their health plans.

  • The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan awarded HAP its Distinguished Service Award. HAP was honored for developing Diabetes Clinical Practice Guidelines which will help more than 15,000 members who have diabetes live healthier lives, reduce complications, and delay the need for dialysis. The guidelines were developed with the National Kidney Foundation and the Michigan Department of Community Health.

  • More than 92 percent of HAP members would recommend HAP to others, exceeding the national average of 83.3 percent. As part of the UltraLink Annual HMO Satisfaction Survey, HAP is one of the three "most recommended" plans in the Northeast Central Region. UltraLink surveyed more than 21,500 employees of selected national employer clients. Results included satisfaction ratings on more than 200 HMOs nationwide.
