Did you lose your employer-sponsored health plan? Learn your options

COVID-19 is causing employers to make tough choices, and sadly, layoffs are on the rise. HAP is here to help you understand your health care options. We can help you find the right one for you and your family.

There are many plan types, and our team is here to help you each step of the way. To start, review your options:

COBRA

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) is a health insurance program that lets eligible employees and their dependents have continued health insurance coverage. This program is for when an employee loses his or her job or has a reduction of work hours. Your company’s human resources department can help you check eligibility.

Individual Qualified Health Plans (Off-Marketplace)

HAP offers many off-marketplace PPO and HMO plans. Premium tax credits on the marketplace are calculated by a customer’s estimated household income for 2020. If, at the end of the year, you’ve taken more advance payments of the premium tax credit than you’re eligible for, you’ll need to pay money back when filing a federal income tax return. This is called reconciling the advance payments of premium tax credit. The actual premium tax credit someone qualifies for is based on their final 2020 income.

HAP is here, carrying over deductibles

We know you may have already spent money on health care costs this year. We want to make sure you aren’t starting over just because you needed to find a new plan. Once you join, your health care costs from a previous plan will carry over to your new HAP individual health plan. These are the costs you’ve already paid toward your deductible.
