Beatty oversees the charitable contributions, lobbying and public relations for Greektown Casino Hotel.
He served for more than 22 years with the City of Detroit Fire Department. On Jan. 1, 1994, Marvin retired from his position as deputy fire commissioner. He was the first African American to hold that position in the department’s history. He then became the executive director at the Wadsworth Community Center in Detroit.
Beatty is a former shareholder of Greektown Casino and a former member of the Greektown Casino Management board of directors. He currently serves as a board member for the NAACP, chairman of the Coleman A. Young Foundation, Downtown Detroit Partnership board of directors, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, Campus Martius, Music Hall and serves on the trustee board of the Fellowship Chapel. From 1995 to 2010, he served as chairman of the board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Detroit.
Beatty attended Wayne State University.
He was appointed to the HAP board in 2008.
