Create a healthier work environment by offering more healthy food options. Learn how to establish worksite food policies and add healthy food options in vending machines, at meetings and in your cafeteria. The following resources can help you do this:

  1. American Cancer Society's Meeting Well is a tool designed to help your organization plan meetings and events with good health in mind. Meeting Well provides healthy information and suggestions including:

    • General tips for healthy meals and snacks.
    • Advice on working with a facility chef or caterer.
    • Tips on how to incorporate physical activity into meetings.

For more information about Meeting Well or to get Meeting Well for your organization, contact your local American Cancer Society office, or call ACS toll-free at 1-800-ACS-2345.

  1. The University of Minnesota, School of Public Health developed Guidelines for Offering Healthy Foods at Meetings, Seminars and Catered Events (Requires Adobe Reader). These guidelines help facilitate the selection of low fat, low calorie food and beverage options.

  2. The California Department of Public Health has created a document offering ideas on setting healthy meeting policies (Requires Adobe Reader) including healthy food and physical activity breaks. They've also created a document providing standards for vending machine foods (Requires Adobe Reader). Much of the information on this site is geared directly towards California resources, but the two above mentioned documents are excellent resources for anyone.
