Fruit and Vegetable Month
HAP recommends you eat a fruit or vegetable with every meal or snack to help reach your daily recommended intake. Diets rich in fruits and vegetables may reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, obesity and other chronic conditions and diseases. Fruits and vegetables provide essential vitamins, minerals, fiber and other substances called “phytochemicals” that are important for good health. Fruits and vegetables are cholesterol-free and most are low in fat, high in fiber and help keep you feeling full so you are not as likely to overeat.
