Did You Know That...? Did you know that an estimated 98,000 people die every year from medical mistakes that could have been prevented? That's more than the number of people who die in car accidents, from AIDS, and breast cancer each year. Source: Institute of Medicine |
What HAP Is Doing To HelpHAP is always working closely with its doctors, hospitals, and other health care partners such as drugstores, to make sure you get the right care, at the right time, by the right health care provider.
Quality Management Mission
HAP's Quality Management department (QM) has a goal to ensure the health care services you receive are of the highest quality and undergo continuous improvement.
QM's mission is to exceed industry quality standards by promoting wellness, prevention and safety practices for the benefit of our customers and our community. This is achieved through meaningful public outreach and effective clinical intervention by our heath care partners:
- Yearly Quality Program and work plan describing member quality and safety goals for the year.
- Partner with employer groups such as GM to develop new care programs for diseases like diabetes to help their employees and our members stay healthy.
- Provide tips on how to get safe care and toolkits to help you ask the doctor questions.
Don't Forget!
Getting safe care is your business too. Be an active partner in your own care by speaking up and asking questions of your doctor, pharmacist, and other caregivers, when needed. Don't leave until you have all of your questions answered.
