If you need to see a specialist, your PCP will refer you. Prior authorization (approval by HAP Senior Plus in advance) may be required for certain services. Your PCP or other plan provider is responsible for obtaining prior authorization.

There are certain services you can get without a referral from your PCP. Refer to the plans Evidence of Coverage document for details.

For all mental health and chemical dependency treatment, call Coordinated Behavioral Health Management (CBHM) department PRIOR to treatment at 1-800-444-5755. We encourage you to precertify services to ensure the maximum benefit available. CBHM is available Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Assistance is also available for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at number above. TDD users should call (313) 664-8000.
