Important note
By law, with some plans, enrollment is limited to specific times of the year. The Annual Enrollment Period for Medicare Advantage plans (Alliance Medicare PPO or HAP Senior Plus) runs from November 15 through December 31.
The Open Enrollment Period for Medicare Advantage plans (Alliance Medicare PPO or HAP Senior Plus) runs from January 1 through March 31. It is during this period that you may change Medicare Advantage plans (e.g., from a PPO to an HMO), as long as you do not add or drop prescription drug coverage.
Other events in your life may create a “special enrollment period” (SEP). Examples are the loss of employer or union-paid coverage and moving out of your current plan’s service area. Contact a HAP plan representative and ask if you are eligible to enroll.
