Designed to appeal to the self-employed, recent college graduates, young families, and empty nesters, SOLO is also an alternative for people who are between jobs or recently laid-off, those who have exhausted their COBRA benefits, or early retirees who are not yet eligible for Medicare.

Features & Cost:

  • Choice of 12 plan designs so individuals can pick a plan based on their specific needs
  • Optional prescription drug and maternity coverage
  • Flexibility to choose deductibles, co-insurance and out-of-pocket maximums
  • Optional Health Savings Account
  • Rates are guaranteed for 12 months
  • Complete online enrollment in about 30 minutes

Alliance Health and Life Insurance Company underwrites each application based on the applicant’s health history and current health status.

SUSAN’S SOLO SUCCESS STORY:

Susan – a 31-year-old independent contractor from Ferndale – enrolled in an individual plan with another Michigan company. From her perspective, the plan was anything but affordable, with:

  • A $300 monthly premium
  • High office visit copays
  • No prevention coverage
  • Required three-month premium payment

It was definitely time to look for an alternative. Susan was referred to HAP by a family member, and for more than a year, she has been a satisfied SOLO customer, thanks to:

  • $116 monthly premium
  • Low office visit copays
  • Coverage of preventive services

When Susan’s doctor told her she was overdue for a tetanus shot, she was relieved to learn that HAP would cover the shot as well as other preventive services.

Do you know someone like Susan? Do you have a friend who recently lost their job? HAP can help! Call (888) 999-4347, email solo@hap.org, or visit www.hap.org/solo.
