HAP Senior Leadership: William Alvin

William (Bill) Alvin is the President and Chief Executive Officer of HAP and Senior Vice President of Henry Ford Health System. Bill previously served for 15 years in leadership roles within Henry Ford Health System, including four years at Health Alliance Plan (from 1988 to 1991) as administrator for Health and Medical Affairs. Bill also had a successful 10-year tenure as the CEO of Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital (from 1991 to 2001) where he was instrumental in turning around the hospital's performance to achieve significant growth and profitability. From 2007-2009, Bill served as executive vice president of Strategy Development for the Detroit Medical Center where he oversees system-wide strategic planning in addition to DMC's health plan contracting and managed care operations. Previously, Bill held the position as CEO of Care Choices Health Plan (formerly of Trinity Health System) from 2001 to 2007; during that time, Care Choices was ranked as the #1 health plan in Michigan and the 12th best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Bill holds a master's degree in Public Administration from George Washington University in Washington D.C.
