Emergency Care Coverage
Emergency means care necessary to screen and stabilize a member in cases where a person with no medical training, acting reasonably, believes that an emergency medical condition exists. Examples of emergency medical situations include chest pain or difficulty breathing.
Emergency care is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In an emergency situation, HAP members should go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 for assistance. After visit an emergency room, members should make a follow-up appointment with their PCP or regular physician.
