So, You're Ready To Quit!
So you're ready to quit! Tips for getting ready to quit.
- Ask yourself, "Do I really need this cigarette?"
Cut out the ones that
you do not feel a strong need to smoke.
- Take fewer puffs each time you smoke.
- When you have an urge to smoke or use tobacco, wait 5 minutes; the urge may go away.
- Make a list of things you can do instead of smoking.
- Learn from the last time you tried to quit. What worked? What didn't work?
- Find a friend who can help.
- Set a quit date.
- Throw away your cigarettes, ashtrays, and lighters the night before your quit date.
- Plan how you will make it through your first day.
- Plan to give yourself a reward for not smoking or using tobacco.
- Quit!
