What to do in an Emergency
HAP covers treatment in any emergency room in the event that you or your family member needs to be seen without delay.
Emergency situations require immediate intervention. We recommend that services are sought at the nearest emergency room. The definition of an emergency is a condition that requires immediate intervention to prevent serious harm to the member or to others. An example of this would be a member threatening suicide or violence. Your local police department can be contacted for assistance, if needed, by dialing 911.
CBHM covers any emergency services necessary to screen and stabilize members without precertification of emergency services in cases where:
- A prudent layperson, acting reasonably, would have believed that an emergency existed
- A practitioner or other authorized representative acting through the organization has authorized provision of emergency services
