Community Events
HAP strives to be a good corporate citizen by providing leadership in community service through volunteerism and partnerships that address the social, economic and educational issues that affect the health and well-being of Michigan residents. Signature programs include HAP Senior Splash Bash & Moms in Motion free water aerobics and Enhance Fitness.
HAP supports organizations and initiatives that foster leadership, development, and good citizenship. Charitable giving activities focus on four key areas:

- accessibility of arts and culture to diverse audiences
HAP's community stewardship begins at the top. HAP executives serve on numerous community boards, such as:

START! Heart Walk (Detroit)
In 2011, 103 HAP volunteers raised more than $40,000 to support the American Heart Association's efforts to fight heart disease and stroke.
Bowling for Kids' Sake (Sterling Heights)
In 2011, 101 HAP volunteers raised $15,000 in support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit's efforts to recruit, enroll and pair volunteers with children who need them most. HAP was also a corporate sponsor of the event. Several HAP leaders volunteer as Big Brothers year-round.
Walk to End Alzheimer's (Royal Oak)
More than 80 HAP employees and family members participated in the 20th Annual Walk to End Alzheimer's, raising nearly $10,000 to support progress in prevention, treatment and an eventual cure, as well as those affected by the disease.
Imagine Fund Scholarship
HAP is pleased to support and extend the work of The Imagine Fund by funding a scholarship to promote diversity in health care professions. The Health Alliance Plan Scholarship is awarded to a Black or Latino full-time student who is currently enrolled at a Michigan public university pursuing a degree in the health care profession. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
Michigan Colleges Foundation
The Health Alliance Plan Scholarship is awarded to students from Wayne, Oakland or Macomb counties enrolled in nursing, clinical laboratory science, health-fitness, dietetics or physical therapy coursework at Madonna University or Marygrove College.
