Health Alliance Plan's East Central office in Flint kicked-off its second annual "Boots for Kids" winter boot drive in November 2009 to prevent local children from facing a bitter cold winter without a warm pair of boots to protect their feet.
With the help of community partners throughout Genesee, Huron, Bay, Saginaw and St. Clair counties, HAP collected 260 pairs of boots ($5,000 estimated value) and distributed them to Carriage Town Ministries of Flint, City Rescue Michigan of Saginaw, Love INC of Greater Lapeer and Pathway Shelter of Port Huron.
Valerie Welch (front) of HAP presents an award to Ron Graham (left), agent, and Brad Huggins (right), owner, Valley United Insurance Agency in Bay City for collecting more than 65 pairs of boots. | Community Partners HAP wishes to thank all those who contributed to the boot drive as well as the following community partners for their support of "Boots for Kids":
